Teflon (TFE) and Kynar - PVDF both are on allocation.
TFE sheet products, PTFE (TFE) as well as PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that's mined in Mongolia and China. The world need for this mineral has risen significantly, along with the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and very low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is utilized throughout tons of applications from non-stick fry kitchenware to ptfe tape for use at home. This particular mineral is a important raw materials in the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and quite a few refrigerants. This increase in demand paired with shortage of raw materials is responsible for a dramatic price increase (almost double within the last year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to continue in the near future.
